For an extra-yummy afterschool snack, your kids will love when you whip up this caramel dip to have with some fresh apple slices. It is also the perfect treat to take to a potluck party since it is quick and simple. This is so easy that my tween and teen can even make it themselves.
Here is what you will need:
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup
- 1 stick of butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk
Step 1: Stir the corn syrup, brown sugar, and butter together in a saucepan until melted.
Step 2: Add the sweetened condensed milk. Bring to a boil.
Step 3: Immediately remove it from heat and pour it out into a serving dish.
Recipe Notes: Any extra can be stored in the fridge and reheated in the microwave. If you’re serving the dip with apples, tart ones like Granny Smith are a perfect balance for the sweetness of the caramel.
If you decide to prepare this ahead and you want to have the apple slices ready to go, too, make sure you use this trick to keep your apple from turning brown.
Helpful Trick:
Mix a tablespoon of salt into a bowl of cool water. Right after cutting up your apples, put the apple pieces into the water and let them sit in there for a few minutes. You can then rinse them with regular water if you want but there is really no need. This will keep your apple pieces from turning brown!
This is comfort food at it’s best. Let me know how much you love it!!
