A little about me…
I’m Natalie Clausen, mom to five busy kids, ranging in age from 1 to 20, and wife to one busy husband. I am a speech-language pathologist and love working with preschoolers who have special needs. But, for the time being, I am focusing my time on taking care of this family of mine. My hobbies are running, sewing, crochet, gardening, chicken-keeping, and web design. However, I don’t have loads of time for those things. Instead, I spend much of my time cleaning, shuttling children, doing laundry, and grocery shopping. Sigh.
A little about Full Green Life…
When you have 7 people in your household, everything happens on a larger scale. Shopping, cooking, laundry, budgeting, disciplining, cleaning, traveling…Seriously, everything. I have always tried to recycle and limit toxins in my home. As my family has grown, though, it’s become really clear that anything we do has an even bigger effect, positive or negative, simply due to the sheer number of us.
My husband and I have always tried to make our kids into good team players. That mindset translates over to a lot of different situations in life, and it applies to living in an environmentally responsible way, too. We try to teach them that taking care of our environment is everyone’s job, and it takes all of us doing our part. But it is also a much bigger issue than what we can possibly control directly in our immediate environment. We all have an impact, from our daily habits, to our purchases, to the example we set for others.
I’m also very motivated to reduce my family’s exposure to toxins in our everyday lives. We, like many other families, have been touched by cancer numerous times through our family and dear friends. By limiting toxins in our food and environment as much as possible, we are doing what is in our control to live as healthfully as possible, and hopefully, stack some of the odds in our favor.
Because parenting is overwhelming enough without stressing about toxins and going zero waste, my goal is to share the things that work for our busy family without costing me a fortune or a ridiculous amount of time. At Full Green Life, you will find practical ways to green up and detoxify your daily life.
I also can’t help but mix in lots of parenting nuggets that will be helpful to anyone raising a family. I’m especially passionate about all topics that relate to my profession of speech-language pathology. You’ll find articles on Full Green Life about language, speech, feeding, literacy, and learning, as these are all topics that I’ve spent a good chunk of my life studying. I know that sometimes, it can be difficult for parents to find trust-worthy information in these areas, so I will always share what I know as well as point you in the direction of other authorities on the subject.
